A glorious collection of musings from founder and MaMa TIger, Rachel Davis. Because perspective is everything.
Conscious parenting has seen an upward turn in the last few years. With popular books such as The Conscious Parent, by Dr. Shefali making this way of raising children more widely known. Which in my view, can only be a good thing.
Honouring, respecting and validating our children's experiences, whilst digging into the work of self-enquiry and healing from our past, is a crucial part of conscious parenting and essential for raising wholehearted children, which is something I am hugely passionate about. This concept is centred on the idea that the problem is not our children, the problem is actually our own subconscious and emotional health. And the thought of raising a child who doesn't have to recover from their childhood fills me with complete joy. But what if we could take conscious parenting to another level?
The work of transforming the parent in order to affect the child is really only one part of the jigsaw puzzle. Powerful books, such as the Biology of Belief, by...
There can be very little that is more frustrating, than trying to get your children ready for school in the mornings. Teeth brushing can take forever and that's if you can even get the toothbrush in their mouths. And getting them out of the door can be a complete nightmare ... I mean, just how hard is it to put your flipping shoes on!
I speak from experience. As a mother of two children, I have had all the same struggles on school runs. Add in a child who has ADHD and struggles to listen or follow simple instructions and it's a recipe for disaster and I was literally losing my shizzle.
Or at least it was ...
That is, until I discovered the incredible power of music to reach my children where words failed.
I'd been running music sessions for children for 6 years, when I made the discovery. I had always known the power of music to teach younger children, let's face it, we use the alphabet and counting songs to teach our children all the basics, before they start...
So you want to raise a child with a positive mindset and healthy self image, right? And you understand a little about the subconscious mind and how the programming we receive in the first seven years of life go on to form the hard drive that we use to run the rest of our lives on a 95% unconscious basis? Ok, so we’re on the same page. Then throw in the power that music has go straight into the unconscious mind and you might just start to get a little bit excited at the thought of what is possible for your children, when we combine powerful affirmations, positive parenting and language with music! Then supercharge it with the incredible energies of love and FUN and then ... and only then, will you have an idea of why I do what I do. And it's why I did a little TEDx talk about it, " Inspiring Confidence & Self Belief in Children through Music." Feel free to check it out at the link below. You see, it really is all about how we see things and how that...
The events of the last week have bought me to despair. The ignorance, the hatred, the apathy, have all left me reeling. And yet hatred in the main, in my humble opinion, has to be carefully taught. Young children in playgrounds with other children, do not see colour. They do not see labels and they do not see race. They just see other children.
The way that we, as parents talk about, judge and label and treat others within earshot of our children, is absorbed by the child during the imprinting stage. Before age 7, our children are in a hyper learning phase, essential for their survival and it means that they are absorbing everything and accepting it as fact. This is where our children's beliefs systems are formed. These beliefs go onto become the default programme, that they will use to run the rest of their lives on a largely unconscious basis. It influences all thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It forms part of who we...
Mental and emotional wellbeing within families has never been so important and one of the simplest ways to increase this is through bringing gratitude into your daily lives.
For anyone familiar with a gratitude practise, it needs no explanation, but others may question why gratitude is so important for a child's wellbeing. Well, regular gratitude is strongly linked with increased mental health, well-being and long term happiness and it allows our children to get some control over how they feel. Now I don't know about you, but those are all things I most definitely want for my children.
Practising gratitude works because all thoughts and emotions, as with everything in our world, are really just forms of energy and all emotions have a vibrational frequency. And one that can be measured. I'm sure it won't surprise you to hear that fear, anger, shame and indeed all negative feelings, are all at the low end of the chart. Whereas peace, joy and...
The Magic of Music with Rachel Davis, La La Tigers from Clare Ford and the Home Learning Hub on Vimeo.
In this interview Rachel Davis of LaLa Tigers talks about the magic of music and mindset and how the incredible power of music can be used for teaching positive messages and life wisdom to younger children in a way that they can understand and that will stay with them forever.
Music is an amazing vehicle for teaching all manner of things to children and we have been using music for centuries to teach them counting and so why not use it to teach them how to live on purpose, how to live a life of courage and self-belief.

"It's literally the best thing I have ever done with my child!" - Jordana Matsuda - Early Childhood Educator
Rachel Davis, from LaLa Tigers, teaches valuable life wisdom to parents and children through music and fun, whilst helping children believe that they can. Rachel says "Self esteem and confidence in children often starts with the little things, like getting their shoes on and brushing their teeth and feeling good about it. But when we teach children in a playful way, we can also show them that there are always creative ways to approach everything, including life. If we can use music to teach them about numbers, then why not teach them incredibly coping strategies for living and about mental and emotional health. I use songs and play to introduce things such as mindfulness, how to trust their inner vision and to help children understand that they are enough. Our internal world of thoughts and feelings affects our whole lives and all belief systems are formed before age 7. We then use these beliefs on a mostly subconscious basis, to run...
